Become a Member

The best way to get involved with the Secular Students is to become a member. We exercise a thoroughly open and inclusive membership policy, so any student at the University of Iowa is eligible for membership regardless of race, sexuality, creed, socioeconomic disposition, religious affiliation, political alignment, or any other factor. Becoming a SecSI member allows you to:

  • Join us on trips to conventions like Apostacon and Skepticon
  • Participate in an amazing community of like-minded folk
  • Sport our SecSI T-Shirt
  • Engage yourself in a broader social movement
  • Represent SecSI at tabling events
  • Vote in elections
  • Become a SecSI organizer

For Students

Any student at the University of Iowa may fill out our membership application and become a member. SecSI will accept every student membership application it receives, unless the information you provide is clearly inaccurate or inappropriate. You can find our student membership application form here.

Please note: Every year you must fill out this membership form again; we delete the list of members every year to ensure our list is up-to-date for the University.

For Non-Students

The University of Iowa mandates that at least 80% of our membership is composed of University students. SecSI allows any non-students to apply to become a Community Member and enjoy all the same benefits as student members. SecSI will accept every community membership application it receives, unless your membership would cause the percentage of student members to go below 80%. You can find our community membership application form here.

Please note: Every year you must fill out this membership form again; we delete the list of members every year to ensure our list is up-to-date for the University.
